When you register a domain, you are asked to supply a genuine address, email account and telephone number in accordance with the policies adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). This info, though, is not kept only by the domain registrar, but is available to the general public on WHOIS web sites too, so anyone can view your information and lots of people may not be comfortable with that fact. As a consequence, many domain name registrars have come up with the so-called Whois Privacy Protection service, which hides the client’s info and upon a WHOIS lookup, people will see the details of the registrar company, not the domain owner’s. This service is also called Privacy Protection or Whois Privacy Protection, but all these expressions refer to the same service. At the moment, most of the Top-Level Domains around the globe allow Whois Privacy Protection to be added, but there are still country-specific extensions that do not support this service.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Web Hosting

If you’ve ordered a shared web hosting from us and you’ve registered one or more domains under your account, you’ll be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of them without any effort and to keep your private details intact. Of course, this will be possible only with the extensions that support this service. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you’ll find an “Whois Privacy Protection” button next to each of your domain names. Its color will tell you whether a domain name is protected or not and in the second case, you can add Whois Privacy Protection with only a couple of mouse clicks. Thus, you can protect your private info even if you have not added the service during the hosting account activation procedure. You will be able to renew or to disable the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domains just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can add our Whois Privacy Protection service without effort. This requires only a few clicks of the mouse in the Hepsia hosting Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, via which you manage everything related to your semi-dedicated hosting account. This is where you can see all your registered domain names and for each of them you will find an “Whois Privacy Protection” sign, using which you can activate, renew or deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service. Of course, this can be done only with generic and country-specific domain name extensions that support this option and you will be able to see this in advance, so you will not end up paying for a service that we cannot provide.
